I was recently asked if I’d be willing to photograph a special piece of land in western Oklahoma for a family I’ve known for more than 30 years. The most immediate goal was to take some of the images and place them on stretched canvases as a surprise for their parents’ 65th wedding anniversary. Of course, I was excited to see the land and to have a part in the surprise gifts. We spent several hours, until after sunset, exploring and photographing this beautiful place.
This ranch has been in the family for about 65 years, and is one of their favorite places to spend time together. While cattle graze nearby, the kids can jet ski, go tubing in the lake and ride four-wheelers. A favorite pastime for all is fishing from the dock, or just sitting on the porch taking in the nature beauty. Many Thanksgivings have been spent at the ranch, and it’s home to their annual 4th of July family reunions, as well as many other gatherings of family and friends.
It was an honor to visit the ranch and to capture these special views, which can be enjoyed as art for years to come.
If you have a special place you’d like to have photographed and created into art, please contact me. I would love to do this for you.
